Originally built in 1846 as a hunting lodge, The Clifton has a rich heritage that seamlessly blends into its present role as a cherished local pub under Loci Pubs. This historic site, known for once hosting King Edward VII, has been a lively part of the community for centuries. Now, as part of the Loci Pubs collection, The Clifton continues to serve as a welcoming haven for both locals and visitors, offering a taste of both history and modern hospitality.
When owners and brothers, Ben and Ed, discovered that their great-grandfather, Bernhard, was a regular at The Alliance (after moving into nearby Gondar Mansions in 1938 when he fled from Vienna to London due to the war) they knew they had to keep the pub and its spirit alive. Together with their friends and business partners Adam and Scott, they relaunched The Alliance as a hub for outstanding food, welcoming service and an excellent pint. Now, the pub is part of the wider Loci Pubs family, a listed asset of community value and a place for loyal West Hampstead regulars to come together and relax.
The Duke of Hamilton has been a core part of Hampstead life since 1721 and was once famed as the favourite watering hole of actors Richard Burton, Peter O’Toole and Oliver Reed. The pub has a rich history and heritage but has remained a pillar of the community for centuries, feeding and watering locals and visitors for close to 300 years. The Duke was always a regular haunt for the Loci Pub boys, so restoring it to its former glory has been a true passion project for them. Now, The Duke is a cosy local space for great food and drink, with families and dogs always welcome.
